about

Hello there and welcome. If you have stumbled across my page, something I have done has sparked your interest. So here is a little about me…

My name is Ali and I live on the South Coast of New South Wales with my three beloved; Ian, Gracie and Tom (they are amazing, treat me with love, kindness and respect, wrestles and sloppy kisses!) Here we live a humble life near the ocean, in our little yellow house halfway up the hill. It is were we laugh, dance, ponder and converse, find adventure and new curiosities together.  It is where my photography took a leap into the unknown, ventured outside my familiar and into other people’s lives.

Photography makes up a big part of who I am. When I have my camera in my hand, I feel like it is second nature to me. I love photographing people. I love knowing their stories… the places they go, things they do and people they love.

I have always felt a connection with photography. And while there is much to learn within the realm of pixels, f-stops and shutter-speeds, I am, nonetheless completely brain washed by this medium and the power it has to make people feel.  Everyday I learn something from my camera. I learn something about my subjects. I learn something about myself.

I am a daydreamer, people-watcher, light -over and moment-dweller. I have a tendency to become overwhelmed by life; I find wonder in everyday simplicity. For example, my daughter Grace’s fuchsia Converse sneakers that lay at the front door. I took a picture of them, and some may say, what on earth for?! Some people just see a picture of some well-worn pink sneakers: nothing special. But I look at the picture and remember the day we bought them and her face when she opened the box, the first time she tied her own laces, the time she underestimated the width and depth of a puddle, the day they became too small. And a smile creeps across my face. That’s why I love photography. The ability it has to conjure and re-create emotion.

I focus mainly on family and wedding photography but I am open to any suggestions you may have.  I love to travel so it doesn’t matter how near or far you are to me, if there is a will there is a way.

I’m looking forward to meeting you, and your beloved.
